Sturdy as an oak

We discover the innovative designs and incredible projects that Carpenter Oak has worked on.

The Carpenter Oak team are experts at working wood, and have been designing, hand making and raising timber framed buildings for the last thirty years. In that time, they have worked with some of the best architects, engineers and builders in the country, with works including extensions, remodelling and new builds, as well as large public and commercial buildings all over the UK and overseas.

“You can relish the process of seeing your ideas come alive from first concept design to opening the front door for the very first time.”

Carpenter Oak brings its innovative designs to the forefront of its projects, providing clients with the chance to invite the outside beauty of the woods into their homes. Having looked at a selection of their builds, I’ve been blown away by the attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship that goes into each and every project; it’s clear that the team love what they do and work together seamlessly to build incredible structures. Domestic builds still provide the majority of their work, operating from four yards in Devon, Cornwall, Wiltshire and Scotland.

Managing Director Luke Copley-Wilkins tells us: “Carpenter Oak prides itself on a flexible approach to designing and constructing interesting and challenging timber framed buildings and all our projects have the client’s brief at the heart of the process.” The Carpenter Oak team applies decades of experience to their projects and expertly manage the smooth transition from the initial concept to a stunning timber-framed building. Luke continues: “You can relish the process of seeing your ideas come alive from first concept design to opening the front door for the very first time.”

One aspect of building that the company has identified as being of paramount importance, and which can be one of the most challenging elements for their clients, is organising tradespeople to come together at the right time and in the right order thereby avoiding delays that will have a knock on effect to timings and budgets. And as a solution to this problem, Carpenter Oak now offers a new service called ‘Complete Build’ – an easier approach to the build process from design to completion.

Luke continues: “We wanted to be able to offer our clients more. By combining our creative design with end-to-end project delivery, we bring the full range of our professional experience to the table.” By drawing on their experience of constructing hundreds of unique frames and buildings, Carpenter Oak have developed a step-by-step process to take a plan through design, build and post construction. This process includes capturing a client’s ideas and drawing up the initial designs that will lead to more detailed drawings, refining designs in response to the client’s feedback, then on to construction and ultimately moving in to the house. This turnkey solution enables clients to see a coherent and assured project evolve from start to finish. Therefore allowing you to rest assured that your project will run smoothly and efficiently, without having to worry about organising different teams, with Carpenter Oak you can rely on one team from the offset, reducing the space for error and providing a service you can trust.

Luke explains: “Carpenter Oak want to offer more options to more people who recognise that we stand for a certain level of quality and service. We want to provide that same level across every project we undertake, ‘Complete Build’ is the natural next step for the company and is a very exciting time in our history.” So, if you want to create a fully functional timber-framed space then contact the Carpenter Oak Team and discover the beauty of introducing oak into your home.
