The art of fashion
We reveal just some of our favourite brands available at fashion boutique, Angies.
Last issue, we took a look at Angies boutique, a fantastic store on the high street in Budleigh Salterton that brings everything back to the experience of shopping, rather than the act of purchasing itself, which we found somewhat refreshing in today’s world of impersonal online and department store retail.
“The only problem we foresee is that they won’t be on the shelves for long!”
Owner Jane Levingston, who last month told us how she aims to create a bespoke form of shopping – the chance to escape the frenzy of everyday life in favour of a more civilised haven – invited us to take a tour and while we were there, we thought we’d handpick some of our favourite brands in order to give you an idea of what you can expect next time you’re shopping in the area!
First up, we have Adesso. Part of a well-established, family run business with more than four decades’ experience in the footwear industry, Adesso’s designers forever have their ears to the ground, producing shoes that fashionistas are really looking for. Combining style and just the right amount of quirkiness, along with the utmost comfort, Jane loves Adesso’s footwear and we’re certain you will too!
Another firm favourite of Jane’s is ERFO. This German brand makes stylish blouses and shirts in high-quality cotton, linen and mixed fabrics. Cut to fit the body beautifully, ERFO designs easy-to-wear shapes with modern styling at the forefront of each and every piece. No wonder they prove so popular at Angies!
Another top German brand – and indeed one that’s impossible to ignore – is Just White. Feminine, high-quality and utterly designer, Just White is one of the leaders in designing blouses and tops for all occasions, whether you’re pairing them with jeans for a casual look, or adding style and sophistication to a more formal outfit.
Jane tells us that she meets a lot of people who already know what suits them. If this sounds like you, you may well love the Angies offering of Monari clothing. An award-winning Italian brand demonstrating an innate passion for beautiful attire, Monari brings flair to the contemporary knitwear market, perfect if you’re starting to sort your winter wardrobe!
Winter is probably the time we most want to feel relaxed and cosy, whether we’re out and about or snuggled on the sofa. Fashion brand Toni is renowned for its superb fits, high quality and expertise in style. The criterion that Toni had to meet to develop the new Relaxed range was that each piece be top quality, guaranteed to fit and easy to wear, and it’s fair to say the team of designers have exceeded all expectations.
The only problem we foresee is that they won’t be on the shelves for long!
Indeed, the Angies team absolutely loves Toni, stocking a plethora of the latest pieces, and it’s easy to see why. According to the website, Toni is the absolute expert in the production of women’s trousers, proving a firm favourite for nearly 50 years with those looking for top-quality ladies’ trousers that fit perfectly.
As autumn and winter begin to creep in, it’s absolutely vital we have the right footwear to stand up to the test of Devon’s worst weather. This is why Angies stock Van Dal shoes. With more than a century of skill and craftsmanship going into every pair, it’s no surprise that more than half a million pairs are made each year. Stylish and hardwearing, Van Dal expertly bridges the gap between winter comfort and seasonal style, so they’re definitely worth checking out next time you pay Angies a visit!
Whether you’re updating your wardrobe in time for the cooler months, or are always on the lookout for the latest statement pieces from some of the finest boutique fashion brands, we can assure you, a trip to Angies in Budleigh Salterton will be well worth your time!
Did you know?
Angies will be hosting a fashion show this autumn at East Devon Golf Club, in conjunction with the Golf Pro Shop, with the aim of raising money for Prostate Cancer Charity and the Bramble Ward Trust Fund at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Tickets are available from September!
